Sorting and planning reference that can be grouped as to value will help you create any scene. Remember to commit to a light or dark figure (overall). Then you can break up the shapes as needed. Watercolor allows for 'push pull' of value and color, plus the layers make this easier.

Use my reference photo or your own. Try to practice sorting value and to simply the figures.
