Watercolor artists should use 'light and bright' concept with first washes (noted in demo).
It's important to maintain the 'glow'. this is easier in watercolor because it fades from one color to another so easily. Oil artists will have to work at this blend/fade idea. Also think of a bull's eye or target board for a 'hot spot' and then all else is darker/less chroma in comparison.
