Sorting material, arranging objects and setting up outdoors are all explained in the first part of this video. The oil painting is created outside and then brought into the studio for revisions. Be open to possibilities when working plein air and don't get discouraged if the light changes.
Select still life objects that interest you and create a painting outdoors or in the studio. Look for collected areas of light/dark. Think about what can be simplified, and what should stand out to the viewer. (Who is the 'star of the show'?)
